After leaving Johanna safely in Mr. Todd's shop, Anthony had run to fetch the coach that was to carry them away from Turpin, to their freedom. He'd marry Johanna in Paris, and someday they'd come back home to London, when they knew they'd be safe there.
That had been the plan. But when he'd returned to fetch Johanna, he'd found himself on a ship instead. Not that he minded ships, being a sailor himself. However, this was not where he'd meant to go, and now it seems he's lost Johanna as well.
"Hallo?" he calls, hoping to find Mr. Todd -- or even Mrs. Lovett. Someone he knew, at least.
