I have been spattered with innocent blood, I shall be dragged through the slime and the mud

When he's cold and dead, will he let me be?

Judas lay crumpled on the ground, rocking, crying, tearing at his hair.

Does he love me, too? Does he care for me?

He fought for a proper breath as he sobbed and beat his fist against the ground.

My mind is in darkness now. My God, I'm sick.

He hated Christ.

I've been used.No -- that wasn't true. He ( Read more... )

Lee was becoming less and less surprised to find random people sprawled on the deck, when he saw the newest arrival he wandered over and poked him lightly with his toe. "Hey. You alright, there?"

Judas jumped up, staring at the new comer. "No -- who are you?"

"Lee, who're you?" The new guy certainly seemed excitable.

Judas took a deep breath. Maybe this wasn't hell after all, if no one had confronted him for his sins yet. This obviously was a new place, no one would know him here. "Judas. Judas Iscariot. Can you tell me where we are?"

Unfortunately for Judas, Oswald appears immediately taken aback by his name. "We're on a ship....what did you say your name was?"

He knew it had been too much to hope for. "Judas. My name is Judas. You... know me, I take it?"

"I've...heard of someone with that name..." He pauses, trying to think of a way to put it that won't make him sound like a total ass if he's wrong.

He didn't care if he wasn't the Judas this man was thinking of, he needed to tell someone who might listen. He broke down again, "I was only trying to help -- I did what I thought was right. It was getting too big for all of us -- someone had to stop it, don't you see? The others were all too blind to see what could have happened to us if Jesus hadn't been stopped."

...Well, that answers that question. But, this man didn't look right. He looked far too modern. "....That was almost two thousand years ago, you can't be that Judas."

He shook his head, "No -- no, this was -- They're taking him to be crucified as we speak!" He sank to his knees, head in his hands, "Oh -- what have I done?"

....Now this is just weird. "Look, I don't know what's going on, but unless the Bible is lying better than anyone ever expected that was almost two thousand years ago."

"What -- Bible? What do you mean two thousand years ago? I don't understand what you're talking about."

"....Okay, um...." How do you explain 20th century Christianity to one of the people who made it happen? "Just wait here for a minute." He ran back to his room and grabbed the copy of the Gideon Bible that managed to find it's way into ever hotel room ever, and ran back. He flipped through the New Testament until he found the bit about the crucifixion and handed it to Judas, gesturing for him to read.

Judas read as quickly as he could, clutching the book in a death grip. "They wrote -- oh Jesus, they wrote about you, like you hoped they would..."

"That book is in every hotel room across countries that weren't even discovered yet when he lived. Almost everyone knows his name."

He could almost smile at that. Almost. "That's what Simon wanted. Did he help? Did his words -- his goals -- his deeds -- did they help? After he was..."
