A girl, around the age of twelve, floats into the mansion wearing an old Victorian nightdress and one ballet slipper. A sponge purse dangles from her left hand [which contains all sorts of odds and ends, including a ghost fish] as her right fiddles with a necklace she wears. The pallor of her 'skin' [scientifically called 'ectoplasm'] indicates that she is not human but indeed something else entirely-- a ghost.
"Hello!" She seats herself on a floral-patterned sofa and examines the main room from her position.
"I hope no one minds that I live here? I promise I won't be too loud or anything... I mean, I'm actually a very good ghost, you see. My name is-- well, my real name is Honoria de Bones. But I hate that name and I don't really like my real parents, so I would prefer to be known as Adopta Wilkinson, but mostly just Addie."
Addie pauses for a moment, setting her sponge purse down next to her.
"This... is a very nice mansion you have here! Much more colourful than Helton Hall, where my good friend Oliver lives, and much more comfortable than the knicker shop where we used to live! -- might I ask, who the owner of this grand abode is? "
Typist: So I re-read Dial-a-Ghost by Eva Ibbotson last night and I couldn't help it... so here's Adopta/Addie/Honoria. ♥
