Re-introduction

Nov 10, 2006 00:54

A tall, pretty young woman of color opens the Mansion door, an excited look on her face.  Sporting a cream toned tee shirt, form-fitting crimson flare pants with cream trim, and matching trainers, she carries a duffel bag in one hand and a racing broom in the other with ease. She takes in her surroundings, and her excitement morphs into confusion.

Leaning against the wall, Lestat watches her from a short distance, picking his nails idly. "Bonsoir, mademoiselle. Etes-vous perdue?" He smiles at her smoothly, keeping his stance relaxed to the point of laziness.

"J'espere pas," she mutters, proof that the language lessons forced on her took root. She doesn't return the smile; she doesn't acknowledge him, really, too focused on her predicament.

"I don't know what's going on, but it's going to stop."

"Bien? And how are you doing to do that?" he chuckles. "Bienvenue, this is The Mansion, and I am Lestat de Lioncourt." He pushes himself off the wall with a foot and bows graciously.

She fails to find the humor in this situation, as evident for the angry scowl on her face. "This is your home?"

"Oui, for the moment it is, but I am not the owner. No one seems to own it. It is in a world between worlds, you might say. The dead, the living, all worlds meet here..." He smiles genuinely and gestures a little grandly at their surroundings.

*processing his words* "An alternate universe...is there a way out? I'm not supposed to be here."

He looks down in thought, pondering the question seriously. "I'm not sure. I've never actually tried to leave yet. But I assume it's possible. If others may come and go as they please, why couldn't you, non? Have you tried simply walking out?"

"Leaving the house isn't an issue. Leaving this -universe- and getting back -home- is." *struggles to keep her cool; this stranger -is- trying to be helpful, after all.*

*to herself* "Of all days for something this crazy to happen, why this one?"

"Time also has a different meaning here. Perhaps, if you were to leave the Mansion and its ground, you could still make it on time. Remember, this world is a hub for others, and works in its own ways, with its own time..." He smiles, trying to be reassuring.

She gives it some thought; should she try it? *squares her shoulders* "Right. Well, thank you for your suggestion, Mister...de Lioncourt."

She nods to him before walking proudly out the front door...ten seconds and a loud CRACK! follows...

...She's Apparated right in front of him.

"Oh for the love of --" she goes on a string of curses.

Lestat bites his lip, trying not laugh as the young lady is clearly upset about being stuck here. "Bel ange, it could be worse. I can't imagine how at the moment, but I'm sure it could be," he smiles sympathetically.

Angelina looks at him like he's grown a second head. "It could be worse?" she repeats. "I'm missing the chance of a lifetime, and you say 'It could be worse'?" she imitates his accent a bit. Yeah, she's a -little- upset.

"Who -are- you?"

He bows graciously and smiles. "Lestat de Lioncourt, at your service. And you, mademoiselle?" he asks politely, trying not to eye her overtly.

She eyes him warily. Who bows to women nowadays? "Angelina," she hesitates in answering. Giving her full name to a stranger? No, that's not going to happen. She doesn't even know if he's --

"-- Are you a wizard?"

"Mais non, Lina. I am a vampire," he smiles slowly, careful to hide his fangs. "Is this the point where you whip out a crucifix and start praying?" Lestat chuckles softly and watches her amiably.

"My name is Angelina," she says curtly, not liking the nickname, and "the answer is no, because I think you're having me on."
