*if you want to, we can go for it. :D if you don't, that's fine too. if you do, set the scene, lady!*

*well, then! scene: Homicide. specifically, the desk of one Detective Hamlet Denmark, Jr., who is currently wearing a very nice suit and busily writing a report that's due within the next fifteen minutes. his desk is, naturally, a mess, complete with a carton of half-eaten Chinese food and chopsticks that appear to have found their way to rest on some particularly nasty crime-scene photos*

Typist: *pokes it* I've posted this comment three times already, but LJ never let it go through.

*this is D.A. Horatio de Wittenberg, who will be quick to explain, should you ask him, that Ellis Island did a number on his grandfather's name but good, all things considered. his suit is definitely nicer than Hamlet's, so there. there's a defendant he's working for right now whose case involves something Hamlet's also been on, so excuse him if he knocks on the door and sticks his head in without preamble* Hi.

Typist: *facepalms* LJ! Be nice.

*his desk is out in the middle of the squad room, anyway, so there's no need to knock-- and his suit jacket is off, revealing a shoulder holster and his police-issue sidearm (so there)-- either way, Hamlet doesn't bother to look up from the computer screen* Hey.

*Horatio likes knocking. it's polite. he pauses, though, when he sees Hamlet* Uh-- *catching himself quickly* --you're Mr. Denmark? I'm looking for Mr. Denmark.

Detective Denmark, yeah. *glances up when he gets to the end of a sentence* I don't talk to reporters.

Then you're in luck. I'm not a reporter.

In that case, you can sit down. *this would perhaps be a good time to note that there's a very plain plastic chair sitting beside his desk, for interviewing*

Sorry, can't stay that long. *glances at a piece of paper in his hand* You're on the Idris-Owain-Deidre case, right? Guy killed his coworker because he thought he was carrying on with his wife?

He was carrying on with his wife. And yeah, I was, but now your guy's in Rikers so I've moved on. *goes back to typing* If you're not a reporter, you're a lawyer.

Yes, well, the defence isn't completely sure. Say, can you look up from that thing or do your eyes have a fatal attraction? --I'm the D.A.

*pushes the laptop screen down a little and looks up* *sarcastic and a little harsh* I don't know; do they?

Typist: A.D.A, probably, but that's hardly important. XD Also, psst, he'd be prosecuting.

*looks over his glasses* Seems that way.

Typist: You do realise you're going to have to coach me the whole way through? XD I have never even seen Law and Order, let alone know anything about the criminal process. XD

Okay, okay. I'm finished anyway. What do you need?

Typist: Is that more or less embarrassing than assuming that Law & Order represents real life at all?
