Hermione passes through the Mansion, and after collecting a cup of tea from the kitchen, she goes outside to enjoy the last bits of fall sunshine. She's folded her wings to as small as they'll get.

As she nurses her tea, she thinks things over. She would appreciate a friendly face to talk to, especially if it's an old friend's.

George steps outside for a bit of fresh air, anything to avoid Fred's corny flirtations with Max. Surveying the gardens, he notices Hermione tucked off to the side, and decides to keep her some company.

"Hey Hermione. Doing alright?" He plops down beside her.

She turns to look at George, the expression on her face one of sadness-but-not-grief.

"To tell you the truth... I don't know."

George frowns a little. "That's not on. What's going on? Does this have to do with..." He brings his voice down to a whisper, "A particularly tall, lanky git of a man I call brother?"

She nods.

"It is. It also has to do with this stubborn, bushy-haired witch you know."

"Took the words right out of my mouths." George half smiles. "Ah, the joys of married life, eh? Wait, we've been out of the loop for a whlie. -Are- you two married?"

She looks a bit uncomfortable.

"Err... we're... not sure? I mean... No, we're not."

But the tone in which it is said, suggests that this isn't a simple case of divorce.

George furrows his brow in confusion. "You're aren't sure, but you're not? Hermione, what happened?" He looks at her carefully, not sure if she's going to burst into sobs or not, and not sure what he'd do even if she did.

She goes quiet and it takes her a while to respond. No tears, though.

"When we got married, our vows included 'until death us do part'... and... we died. People come back here, sometimes, but we... died. So... that negated our vows. And we're not sure where that leaves us."

Again, her tone suggests there's more to it, but she won't talk... yet.

George whistles quietly. "Okay, so what you're saying is... it's complex. Gotcha. How does Ron feel about it? Has he said?"

She looks at George in surprise, having honestly not expected him to be this 'quick on the uptake' or to the point.

"To make a long story short, he -says- he wants to get married. Again."

But the emphasis on "says" probably indicates that so far, that's all it's been: talk.

"But let me guess, he's being a wishy-washy idiot." He waits to see what her reaction is. He leans back for a minute, trying to make himself comfortable. He could tell that this was going to be long and involved. What -had- he gotten himself into?

She gapes and... stammers out her reply.

"Uhh... yeah."

George nods knowingly. "Yup, that's our Ron for you. Can't figure what he really wants, and if he does, can't figure out how to go for it, or keep it, or get it back." He chuckles softly. "You've got your hands full, Hermione."

She turns to look at George, an idea forming in her head.

"He said he's gone to stay with you two... Can't you help him on his way?"

George sits back and looks at her warily. "Help him on his way -where- exactly? To our place? I think he knows where that is, Hermione."

"No, that's not what I meant." She briefly wonders if she really -is- unable to communicate. "Ron said he's gone to stay with you two, to figure out what it is he wants. Which you said is difficult for him to do... didn't you? That's what I meant by 'helping him along'. Help him figure out the answer to his own question?"

She gives George an almost pleading look.
