A new arrival

*Enter a young, very pretty young lady, extremely well dressed. Don't let her appearance fool you- her smile is fake, and she glances around a bit disdainfully before speaking.*

... This certainly isn't London. I had better receive an exceptionally good explanation as to where I am right now.

*and here's a wealthy, rather dandyish man with an appropriately bored upper-class drawl, here to greet her* It would appear to be an environment entirely removed from the concepts of place or time-- utterly ridiculous, and yet charming in its way.

*bows* Lord Henry Wotton, at your service.

*well, he looks upper-class enough to speak to, so will flash her fake!smile and curtsey* Caroline Bingley. A pleasure.

*blinkblink* Pray tell, what do you mean "removed from the concepts of place or time"? Surely we have to be in some sort of place and time.

Delighted, Miss Bingley.

One would think so, but it does not seem to be the case. There are people here from ancient Greece, some from times some distance in the future-- why, from your perspective, I believe I am from the future, though not one so far removed as some.

Likewise, Lord Wotton.

*blinkblink* Ancient Greece? How is that possible?

*can't think badly of people, just can't*

*curtsies* Oh, good evening, Miss Bingley! It is lovely to meet you again.

I'm afraid nobody is quite sure what this place is; yes, it's almost like something from out of a storybook! In fact, some of the people living here seem to come from just that...
But it's not too bad, if you keep out of the way of the more dangerous characters. *apologetic smile*

*can! :D*

*curtsies in return, all smiles* Miss Bennet! How delightful to see you! you are well, I hope?

A storybook, you say? How... interesting.
Dangerous? Are there many of them, then?

*smiles* Quite well, yes and engaged to your brother, too!, thank you! And I hope you are also well?

I don't know exactly - I have kept well away from them, after all! But I have been warned that they are more than is safe...

I am quite glad to hear it. ....How....lovely for you... .... Your family, also?

Hmm. How very unnerving, indeed!

Miss Bingley. *almost smiles a little, he's so glad to see a beacon of sanity in the place, even if it is a particularly hypocritical and disdainful beacon of sanity* What a pleasant surprise to see you here.

I must give you what warning I may of this place. It is dangerous and filled with undercurrents of corruption. I recommend you take care to yourself.

Mr. Darcy! *smiles prettily* How very pleasant to see you here as well! I was rather afraid I'd gotten myself lost in a most uncivilised place. How very relieved I am to see you here.

Danger and corruption? Dear Lord! What sort of place have we found ourselves in? *and smiles again* I thank you for your concern, Mr. Darcy. I shall most certainly take care.

I have retreated rather permanently to Pemberley in hopes of escaping some of the madness of the place, although it seems to have rather tragically touched some of our associates. You are welcome to visit Pemberley any time you wish, I am quite starved for civilised conversation.

Your brother is here as well, I am glad to inform you. Newly engaged, as you may already know.

Oh? Might I ask who? *smilesmile* How exceedinly kind of you to offer, Mr. Darcy! Is dear Miss Darcy there as well?

Is he? How very won-- *almost chokes* -- Engaged? To whom? I shall be most pleased to hear if it is to your dear sister.

*is a polite young man, so why not throw him in?*
*Caroline may note that he's dressed rather old-fashionedly, even by Victorian standards - medieval style, with a loose-fitting shirt, leather breeches, boots and an embroidered tunic*

*bows in greeting* Welcome, Lady. I am sure it is lovely to meet you. This is a rather strange place, but one can get used to it...

*looks him over, thinking him rather worse dressed than Elizabeth*

*curtsies, with a very fake smile* Thank you, sir. A pleasure to meet you as well. --I hope I will not be staying here long enough to be forced to become accustomed to it.

*friendly smile* Ah, but it's not that bad, lady.

I suppose I shall just have to wait and see for myself. You seem to be a pleasant sort of person, in any case.
