An introduction

Jul 11, 2006 20:58

Enter a pretty, dainty sort of girl with brown hair and freckles and an accent that can't quite decide itself, shifting from music-hall Cockney to theatrically genteel to pure broad Kent as she speaks.

Well, hullo, there. My name's Kitty Butler. Well-- Bliss. Waters, even. No telling which you've heard, if you've heard of me at all. I'm a performer, you see. I work the halls. If you haven't heard of me, perhaps you'll know my husband Walter?

There's a certain degree of affection attached to the name, but it's not that of a wife for her husband.

Or . . . do any of you know a Miss Nancy Astley? She might call herself King, instead. Nan King.

It would be difficult to tell, but this name means a bit more.

Typist: From Sarah Waters' novel Tipping the Velvet, set mid-book. Also, I know we had her around once-- twice, actually-- and if anyone has characters with previous DF-canon with her, I'd be more than willing to keep it if they'll fill me in.
