Bonjour, my mesdames et messieurs! If you please, I've brought along Monsieur Fogg's things at last (it took me a while to get out of the house, I'm sure you'll understand, for I had to spend quite a while making quite certain that the gas wasn't on by mistake!) and I'm just looking for him.

I'd go exploring, but that's already cost me one pair of ( Read more... )

*groans* I'm sure that M. Verne is just thrilled.

*coughs* I venture to think you may understand now.

Yes, monsieur. But if monsieur will forgive me, I don't see anything very dreadful in his greeting me.

For a madman and my author, he doesn't seem so bad.

*beams hugely* Monsieur Passepartout! Dear me, dear me, this is an excellent surprise. I am sure M. Fogg will be utterly pleased--er, no, perhaps that's too strong. Er. My, well, I am sure M. Fogg will be satisfied to see you, at any rate.

OH.

Bonjour, Monsieur Verne! *worries* I hope he is, monsieur. I'm afraid he'll be dreadfully displeased at how long it's taken me to come.

Be assured, I am not displeased with you, Passepartout.

This time.

Monsieur is too good to his humble servant. *tries honestly very hard to be both penitent and smile wonderfully at the same time*

Yes, Monsieur!

Welcome to the community, Monsieur.

*blinks* I've noticed the most interesting pattern-- every character of M. Verne's that has joined thus far has caused my typist to make vague happy noises.

I thank monsieur very much, indeed!

*peers curiously at this 'typist'* That's a funny thing. Do you know why, Monsieur? Do you think she'd mind if I asked?

You're quite welcome.

I believe it's something about how she finds all of them 'inexpressibly adorable', I believe. These typists are very curious creatures. There must be something about M. Verne's characterization that causes her to think this. *ponders this*

I've certainly never been called 'inexpressibly adorable' before, monsieur! What a funny thing that is. But if monsieur pleases, I will extend my thanks to her.

M. Verne is an odd man, but he writes awfully interesting adventures. I read them in the weeklies sometimes. *happy face* I expect it won't be unfortunate to have him around here.

I am most pleased that you have finally arrived.

Your apology is accepted, Passepartout. But do not let it happen again.

I trust you left the flat in good order?

Of course not, if Monsieur Fogg will believe me! I simply got myself lost, for there was that beautiful mademoiselle with the red hair, and--at any rate, I'll certainly not do such a thing again!

Yes, yes, Monsieur! The gas is off in every room. But it's a terrible thing that Madame Fogg isn't here. *glances up hopefully* For she truly isn't?

I should think not. Please do not go neglecting your duties on account of red-headed women rescuing and/or pursuing ladies being only appropriate when one has the time to do it.

I have not seen her, yet. I trust she may arrive soon, but she keeps her own counsel. I should not presume to demand her attention.

Yes, of course, Monsieur Fogg. I'm awfully sorry. I suppose that's true--but would monsieur not have gone to save Madame Fogg if the time had not been available?

Yes, monsieur.

Welcome, Mr Passepartout! My name is Lily Potter, pleased to meet you! I'm a bit late with my catching-up, what with my typist insisting on studying and writing and such matters. But I enjoyed reading your adventures - I need to get the typist to read the book again. Hope you like it here! And I warn you, some of your countrymen in this community are reputed to be a little... odd. I've tried not to look too deeply into it.

Oh, many, many thanks to mademoiselle for her kindness! *big smile!* I am very glad she took pleasure in reading of Monsieur Fogg's accomplishment--I'm rather awfully proud of it myself. He is simply the most able and wonderful gentleman in the world.

All Frenchmen are a little odd, if mademoiselle pleases. If they are too odd, I'll disregard them.
