How does one get to become a knight anyhow?

Typist: Sorry if this was supposed to be answered by Arthur people only?

It involves doing what you're told and being civil. I don't think you'd take to it.

*and ought to know--imeanwhat?*

Typist: ... I know you hear that all the time, Mordred, but I love you.

*arches eyebrows* Are you the King in question here? Then I shall simply ignore your comment, I think.

Considering that he is that king's nephew, you might be ill advised to do so.

.....No, actually, he's right. That was uncalled for.

*and to Draco, with no evident mockery* Your pardon.

Thank you, considering I did ask a civil question.

He is my nephew. *very slight bow* I am Arthur, King of England.

What did you wish to know?

I was merely curious as to how you decide who to knight and what qualities they require as I have met some of your so-called-knights and they do not all seem to be up to the standard I have read about in historical books.

Oh, and by the way, my childhood home is near where Merlin is allegedly buried. Has he returned to this place at all? Have you seen him?

They must show a certain goodness and a certain strength. It is not always easily seen. Rest assured that my Knights-- my knights and not, as you would dub them, so-called-- are the greatest in the world. I have known them in battle and at rest, and I know them beyond what mere sight may tell.

*slight pause* I have-- not for some great time seen the wizard Merlin. I regret the loss of a great man and a great friend.

So Merlin is all he is hyped to be? He appears to be much respected among my kind. *dignified, but slightly arrogantly* I am a wizard too.

Yes. He is much respected at my court, as well. As a boy, he taught me much-- not of the magic arts, but of the world.

*properly respectful, but not deferential* Of the good Merlin's creed, I hope.

That depends. What did he believe in exactly?

*very faint smile* Goodness.

That's a bit of an overrated attribute, isn't it?

No.
