Last night, while everyone in chat was attempting to come up with things to put on Crowley's "You know you're too obssessed with DF when..." list, someone said "...you try to figure out the floorplan of the chat." (It was something along those lines. I can't remember exactly and I'm feeling a bit too lazy today to go back over to Crowley's journal for the exact words.) When this idea popped up, my typist, who has taken technical, engineering and architectural drawing classes, got an idea. As you may have noticed, typists with ideas are dangerous. But hers was this: what if she actually drew up a DF Chat floorplan?
The question after she had determined that this was completely possible became what would be included? When she asked around the chat, the answers were as follows: lots of corners, a closet, some private rooms, a library and a door to the outside. Okay. Good. Thus far, in the hour that she's been working on this project, she has all of those things. Of course, the chat "room" has become more like the beginnings of a chat "mansion," but still.
Now, here's the new question. If she continued messing about with all of this, would we be interested in a full map of this possible mansion and, maybe, the DF grounds? If so, what all would be included? Whether we seriously think any of this necessary (or even just entertaining), my typist will likely play around with it all in her not-so-free time. I was just curious about what everyone might think. After all, when your typist has useful skills, you might as well exploit them to their fullest extent.
