Of course you don't see him, or he pretends you don't. Is he really that large a cat? It doesn't seem likely. But the huge orange and cream fluffball is looking around in the main room. He mostly seems curious and a little miffed.

*her eyes widen slightly*

Karal did not arrive with you, then?

typist: I really need to read this series again! Sorry, but I can't remember how much contact Elspeth and Altra had, and if they ever really spoke. I'll assume though that she knows he is friends with Karal.

typist: that much makes sense. I need to re-read them too.

*starts winding between her legs, like a 'real' cat* No! I don't know where he is.

Oh dear, well I'm sure he'll turn up eventually, this place is strange like that *crouches down and starts scratching him between the ears*

I feel useless without him. *rubs against her hand*

*continues scratching as she tries to find a plausible explanation* Maybe you were sent here by V'Kandis to make this certain that this place would be safe for him before his arrival?

*pauses, suddenly embarrassed that he didn't think of that* Of course! Well, I should investigate then.

Where exactly are we? *ears up and alert*

Well, *tries to think of the right way to say it* it seems to be a different world, from what I can gather. And it also seems to exist out of any time that we would recognize, I've met a few people who are from our world, but who lived hundreds of years before us.

It also seems to be a place where nothing is permanent. People who die are easily able to come back to life. It baffled me at first, but you do get used to it.

I don't know what the Sunlord would think of it then. Life has a natural order. Who have you met? *hates being such a talkative ninny but feels a bit out of his depth here*

Not many people, to tell the truth, only Firesong, and a couple of people who know completely different magic to anything our world has.

Then it is very odd here indeed. I should get to poking around to see if it's safe for Karal.
