A greeting!

Hola, friends! This appears to be a rather intriguing place, I must say!

Ah, how rude of me! I am Diego de la Vega, resident of Pueblo de los Angeles in Alta California, a part of the Spanish colony of México. I am given to understand, however, that a number of you are from a much different time, and that our town has grown rather expansive. But then, I shall let the future tend to itself. I have not the constitution for such concerns.

Yes, it is rather unfortunate that I have such delicate health. I am asthmatic, and subject to frequent headaches (although anise tends to relieve them somewhat) and heart palpitations. Somewhat at the opposite end of the spectrum from that fascinating Zorro, whose exploits, rather unlike my own, are legendary.

Ah, but of course, I ramble on. Please forgive me. It is a pleasure to meet you all, I am sure!

[[Typist: Diego de la Vega, AKA Zorro, of course. I've taken him from Isabel Allende's Zorro, although I probably won't be able to help it if other bits of characterization seep in to my portrayal. He's totally the Spanish Scarlet Pimpernel. -grin- (Only a few years later, of course. And colonial.)]]
