Hallo! I’m David Barton. I’m very glad to be here, even though I don’t know any of you. It’s a bit like starting school for the first time again, isn’t it?
I don’t really have much to say (and, considering the amount of letters I write, that’s quite surprising. John would be terribly amused - I wish he were here), I was in the army during the Great War and in school for most of the time before that.
It’s rather odd here, a little bit like being back in the trenches somehow - though much nicer, of course! I hope I’ll get to be friends with some of you *smiles*.
Typist: Barton is from a book called Strange Meeting, by Susan Hill. If you get the chance to read it then do, it’s fantastic.
