It is a pleasure to introduce myself as Lady Catherine, called by friends Little Bird or Birdy, daughter of Sir Rollo and Lady Aislinn. I am told that my written account of my fourteenth year is available for public consumption, which both amuses and concerns me. I have confessed things to my book-of-days that no mortal ears have heard. Yet for the sake of forthrightness I suppose I should be an "open book", after all.
This flitty little distractible creature that has dubbed herself my "typist" keeps prattling something about not having my book at her fingertips, and therefore not being able to reference anything properly until her mother ships it up from home. I don't know what she's in such a state for. God's thumbs, if I cannot take care of myself by now!
