To Whom it May Concern,
Upon an investigation of Chauvelin's abandoned flat, noting appeared to be missing save the contents of a desk drawer which I recall containing paper. However, with futher examination, I realized that a man as seemingly desperate as he would have a hightened sense of "poetic justice" and "dramatic irony". Therefore, might I recommend you investigate the underground...whatever you wish to call it where he imprisoned Lady Wotton. After all, what would be more ironic than that?
Post Script to the Gentlemen: Considering the delicate condition of certain ladies, I suggest they be forbidden to come. The villain has been gone for over two weeks, and if he is as ill-equiped as his flat suggests, you may find nothing but a corpse.
Sincerely,
Edward Fairfax Rochester
