I'm certain this subject has been broached before, but as my typist desires to "get back in the game," as it were, I should like to renew the topic. Fanfiction: how do you find it?
*clears throat* Most erratic, most erratic indeed. That is, at least, my opinion, to open the discussion. My typist has been visiting a place called fanfiction-dot-net, and reading through five pages of summaries for *chokes on name* Horatio Hornblower fiction turned up no sign I even exist, that I could be even remotely involved, though I was his captain in the Indies, where occurred much of the "drama" the young ladies who write gravitate to. In fact,
this was the only piece which allowed that Captain Buckland, or even First Lieutenant Buckland, existed. I take offence to this one piece, "parody" though it may be, and I take issue with the author's disclaimer, for certainly my reputation was attacked -- and blighted -- in the course of this fiction. It has no basis in reality. The least of its issues with reality involve the idea that I have scaled the heights since I reached a dignified forty years. *straightens uniform*
So. Has anyone else suffered so at the hands of fanfiction authors, thus?
Typist: Yes, he's a bitter, bitter old man.
