My name is Scarlet O' Hara and I live in the deep South on my Father's beloved plantation, Tara. I heard the most dreadful news today from the Tarleton twins. They are terribly fond of me and we were all sitting on my porch, they in their sleek riding boots, red hair glinting in the hot sun and I in my new green dress, when they said they'd tell me a secret. I was eager to hear it, but now I almost wish I'd never asked. Ashley Wilkes is to marry his cousin, Melanie Hamilton.
Ashley? Married? No, this simply cannot be. He loves me. He must love me! Tomorrow the Wilkes are holding a barbeque and it is then that I will catch him alone and tell him that I love him. Of course, he will admit to sharing my feelings. He just cannot choose Melanie over me.
If you ask nicely, maybe I'll tell you how the party goes. By then, I shall be the new Mrs. Wilkes.
