It's really been a while since...

... since we saw the Merlin. Or, alternatively, since Merlin saw anyone.  His two housemates have been more social than himself, lately, and he's feeling the uncanny desire to see people, meet new people.

So here's a wizard, smoking a pipe in the chill autumn air, looking at the yellow leaves in the trees and the humid, dying grass on the ground.

Kvothe wanders out of the mansion, probably intending on taking a walk, and smiles when he sees Merlin. He raises a hand in greeting as he goes toward the old wizard. "Hello, Merlin."

Merlin waves back, crosses the distance to offer Kvothe the compulsory arm clasp. "Kvothe my friend, it's been a while ere I saw you."

"It has," he agrees, clasping Merlin's arm in return. "What have been doing with your time then, since you haven't been coming by the mansion?"

[myrddin_wyllt]

"Puzzling out the old riddle," he replies, referring to the vortex of evvvvvil. "And mostly being frustrated with it."

[the_bloodless]

"I hope it has not been causing any more trouble," he says, looking in the direction of the vortex. The last thing he wants is another appearance of Morgoth.

[myrddin_wyllt]

Ahahahahaha, Kvothe, guess what's in the works?

"No more nor less than it has as of late," Merlin replies, frowning. "Which is what concerns me, if truth be told."

Well, he doesn't know that yet, do he? muahahaha.

"Waiting for the other shoe to drop," Kvothe says understandingly. "I know the feeling."

[myrddin_wyllt]

Nope. That is the glory of irony, muahahahaha.

"Precisely," a pause, then, and Merlin looks up. "Have you been waiting as well?"

"I've been trying not to worry about things over which I have no control." A pause and a wry smile. "Which has been going about as well as it usually does."

[myrddin_wyllt]

"Indeed," Merlin replies, equally wry. "Such endeavours can only end one way."

[the_bloodless]

He nods and falls silent for a few moments. "Have you any theories aobut what might happen, or when?"

[myrddin_wyllt]

"Any conjecture I may do thus far is purely speculation, Kvothe. Would you prefer I share them nonetheless?"

[the_bloodless]

He nods, he figures that Merlin still knows more about this particular phenomenon than he does. "If you would."

[myrddin_wyllt]

"Do you recall," he says, thoughtfully, "the first manifestation of this terrible fellow?"

He's referring to the crackplot, actually.
