It's really been a while since...

... since we saw the Merlin. Or, alternatively, since Merlin saw anyone.  His two housemates have been more social than himself, lately, and he's feeling the uncanny desire to see people, meet new people.

So here's a wizard, smoking a pipe in the chill autumn air, looking at the yellow leaves in the trees and the humid, dying grass on the ground.

Jaenelle is not sure if she's still welcome. They have had some rough patches, and relationships in general have not been feeling so secure lately. She sits next to him, though, probably just on the porch with her legs dangling over the ground, half watching him through eyes that are quite a regular blue.

He smiles at her, a bit shyly. He's never hated her, nor been angry with her - if anything, he's always worried about the little Queen.

"Well, girl, are you going to look at me like that for a very long time? It's no way to greet an old friend, now, is it?"

She blushes, and tucks her knees up. "If you wouldn't mind me greeting you more informally..."

"I rather mind when you don't," he replies, gently. "Come now, lass, why so glum?"

She draws her legs in and stands up, goes over. "--I missed you?" Tentatively, yes.

[myrddin_wyllt]

"And I missed you too," he replies, and he offers her his hands to take, like an old friend, a big brother, a father might. "Come now. I was waiting all this time, you know."

She takes his hands, and then just throws her arms around him and gives him a hugging, tightly.

He hugs her back, tightly, feeling relieved that he hasn't lost her friendship.

"M'all right," she says, a little muffledly.

[myrddin_wyllt]

"Good. I'm very glad to hear it," he says, kindly. "Come now, sit with me. Tell me what came to pass."

She sits, or plops, less dignifiedly, next to him. "Oh...I don't hardly know where to start."

[myrddin_wyllt]

"The beginning has been known to be a rather effective choice," he offers, lightly. "But of course, that is only my experience..."

He... might be attempting a joke.

She laughs, a little, faintly. "Well...what had you last heard?"

[myrddin_wyllt]

"I believe it might have been about a babe's making time, ere I last had tidings of you. You were celebrating the Winter Solstice, then."

Or it might have been shortly before, shortly after. They didn't speak during the party, that time.

"I'm sure you've...felt the major disturbances, since then."

He nods, somberly. "I have." Quite intimately, since he channeled for Fingon and Galadriel.
