Khary likes to do things just to mess with people. Sitting down on any furniture in the main room, or at the island in the kitchen, will result in a rather sudden and alarming change. Khardeen may not be entirely sure what he was doing - it was more just tweaking things around, playing some games, he probably intended some simple young children ( ( Read more... )

She doesn't dress like everyone else. She has a funny accent. She spent two months in 'Language Assistance Class'. The Foreign Exchange Student is, well... foreign. Like an alien dropped off on earth and abandoned in the jungle.

She's sweet, but she's shy. She's smart, but she has troubles expressing herself.

More than everything else, she's lonely and she wants to go home. And it's still another six months away.

Stark, class president, to the rescue!

He doesn't know an ounce of French or anything about France, but whatever, he just wants to be helpful, and hence next time he sees her he will bound to catch her before she flutters off. "Hello - uh -"

He suddenly and horribly finds that he doesn't quite know her name.

"Bonjour," she replies, with that strongly accented, soft voice of hers, the one he's barely ever heard in class. She colors a bit, and is ready for a hasty retreat, even if this one has never been mean to her.

There are scary people in the class.

He turns bright red, promptly, and looks excruciatingly embarrassed, which probably isn't helping her. "--uh - I'm sorry, I don't think I got your name, ever..."

Oh, great job, you're doing fantastic at this. :|

She colors too, merely in reaction to Robb's coloring. "Oh. Pardon. I mean, I'm sorry. I'm Angelique. Angelique Hubert. And you are Robb, right?"

"Yes - Robb Stark," he straightens a little, "Class President. I just wanted to make sure you're feeling welcome here and adjusting all right..."

She colors a little more, adjusts her Chevignon bag on her shoulder.

"I-- oh, that's, that's very gentle," she means nice, "thank you."

He blinks a little for the strange use of words. "--er. You're welcome. Well - are you?"

"I -- it's very sweet of you to demand," again, wrong word choice, she means ask. "I think it's going okay?"

She's lying, but that's just her being polite. She can't tell him that people are scary and she wants to go home. That's just not done.

He doesn't quite doubletake, just mildly puzzled by her word choice. And not wanting to comment! It'd be rude.

"Er - good," he says, privately relieved, "I was hoping that everyone would be very welcoming - have you ever been here before?" He regrets the question (stupid!) a moment later, obviously she hasn't.

It would be rude but it would also help her understand why people laugh every time she opens her mouth...

"Oh, yes, yes, everyone is very gay, it's lovely," she replies, still completley heedless of her lexical problems.

Ah, all those French words work so well. Why can't they mean the same thing in English?

Robb - blushes. ---"Er - Angelique?"

"Oui?" She smiles, innocently. She has no idea, of course.

"I think - I don't think that's quite the word you mean..." Blushing, like crazy.

"Oh?" She frowns, just a little. "What is the word?" .... oh, realization hits hard. "... what did I say?"

"--gay?"

Blushes more. THIS IS NOT HOMOEROTIC OR ANYTHING, NOBODY LOOK.
