Celebrimbor is wandering around outside, lost in throught, when he hears the bellow. His expression rapidly shifts through "oh shit" to tense resignation as he silently turns toward the source, waiting. He knows he can't avoid this indefinitely, but he kind of wishes he could.

There's no way that running into the father you publicly denounced is not going to be unpleasant in some way.

There really isn't! Especially when your father tends to expect unconditional obedience. Not getting it is a little bit displeasing. Maybe more than a little bit. At any rate, he does notice someone wandering. Someone dark-haired.

Someone familiar.

His eyes narrow and he turns slightly to stalk in Celebrimbor's direction, not quite bearing down on him. "You. Boy."

He takes a slow breath, steels himself, and faces his father. "It's been a few thousand years since anyone has called me that," he muses with a casualness he doesn't really feel.

Curufin's expression doesn't get flatter, mostly because it can't. There's a tic of twitchy anger that shows in his jaw, though. "It hasn't been a week," he nearly snaps, "But it's clearly been too long since I reminded you that I am your father."

"Oh believe me, that's a hard fact to forget." Some old bitterness leaches into his town, he tries to surpress it. "And it's been a lot longer than you think."

"What the hell are you going on about?" So far resisting the urge to just shake him, but he's tempted to give him the chewing out of his life and possibly a thrashing. Should have been firmer with the damned boy. His nostrils flare, another indication of temper, as if it's needed. "You seem to have been doing your best." He deliberately doesn't ask what Cele was thinking; that's obvious. He wasn't. Clearly.

If Kurvo tried to shake him, Cele might even take a swing at him. "I mean, that it's been a couple thousand years since the rest of you died. Just because you weren't there for it doesn't mean it didn't happen, the world went on after Grandfather died, too."

Don't you talk about Daddy, we do not find that acceptable. But wait wait wait. That does get his attention, though, and he takes a step nearer Celebrimbor, expression rapidly approaching furious. "Much as you might wish it, boy, I am not dead nor do I plan on being so," he snaps, "And until that changes I'd advise you to watch your tongue."

He's silent for a moment, confused. "...What's the last thing you remember?" Because clearly, something here isn't right.

Curufin stares at Celebrimbor narrowly, then twitches his head, not moving and not seeming any less annoyed. "I told you. It has been barely a week since Turco and I...departed...Nargothrond." His eyes flare a little. Truly annoying. "We have been traveling towards Thargelion since."

"You should talk to Turco. Or anyone. Because I know that you will not believe me when I tell you how long it has been."

His frown deepens, there's almost, almost a flicker of concern. Maybe. Faintly. "Turco was just with me. Have you run mad?"

"But you aren't where you were, are you? Turco's been here for months."

"...that's impossible." You are crazy, see, look what happens when I don't supervise you, you start going nuts. :|

Was crazy. He got better.

"Yeah, well, a lot of things about this place are impossible. Especially the number of people who were already dead before they got here. Like everyone in our extended family except for Galadriel." Including him, by the way.

His eyes narrow more, and he doesn't seem better, damn boy. Gwar. And. "'Everyone' seems an exaggeration." Not quite acidly, but he's still bothered by that. Stop calling me dead I'm not either. Done very well at staying alive, thank you.
