Winter

They are all there - her husband, his father, her children, and the other Enchanters. Azhure opens her mouth to speak, and then...  The song is like nothing she's ever heard. Her father, WolfStar, that madman. He has done this, somehow, ripped her from her very reality and put her quite somewhere else. She can remember the cold of winter that ( Read more... )

Armand isn't sure about new people. He's new-returned and not feeling at all settled. But he used to always have a kind word for new people, especially those who arrived so confused. She's pretty, but that can be a mask for evil. He tries not to judge. He steps toward her, and smiles. "Don't blame us for not knowing where this is. It's a mystery to everyone. Welcome to the Mansion."

She'll see a man with too-long black hair, wearing more or less a late eighteenth century suit. But he's smiling as if he means it.

Azhure returns his smile with one every bit as warm, if not a little perplexed. "It seems questions of the sort are met with a question in return, so I suppose I should just stop asking," she says with a small, defeated shrug. "So far I've met a handful of people who tell me that this Mansion is the place to be," she says.

She looks Armand over, more or less because his clothing is odd to her - but then again, the loose, draping gray dress she wears of some light and shimmering fabric that has a low back for her wings is probably odd to him. This entire place is odd, come to think of it, and Azhure just laughs to herself, deciding that she won't think the word 'odd' again or she might faint.

"I'm Azhure," she says, holding out her hand. That was working well for her so far.

He bows, a little more formal now. "And I'm Armand." He then stepped forward and shook her hand. "It's usually easier to be very, very confused at the beginning to get it out of your system."

"It seems like this is a routine thing, people just appearing here. Do you stay at the house as well?" she asks, releasing his hand lightly. She's pleased to know that she's met another fellow who's got what appears to be no chip on his shoulder he's taking out on her. Most of the people here didn't, and she realizes that's not a fair judgment, but some people were so very wary of her.

"It may have quietened down recently, but yes, it is... common." But to her question, he shakes his head. "Oh, I live nearby. I can't escape very far either, but I have my own house." He waves a hand vaguely in the direction of a path that goes off into the woods. It's no more noticeable than any other path there.

"I didn't see anything when I was walking earlier - maybe I didn't go down any of the right trails. I hadn't realized there were other homes. Were they there when you arrived or did you build them yourselves?" she asks, interested to try and establish some sort of timeline with this place.

"We built them ourselves. I helped my adopted father build a house, then I used those skills and help from my friends to build my own." He will be glad to help all he can, so long as she keeps asking the right questions.

"That's impressive. I don't think I've built anything bigger than a bird-feeder before, and it was a pathetic bird-feeder at that. They didn't like it and tipped it over," she says with a silly pout. "It broke into a hundred little wooden pieces and my husband laughed at me."

She sighs a little, wistfully. There is no time to dwell, there is no time to dwell.. She will emote in private, she decides. For now, she's got a rather nice and well-mannered fellow entertaining her company. "Have you many friends here? I've met several people thus far, and some of them are only slightly gruff, while others are as sweet as honey. Is everyone so hot and cold, or is it because I'm new?"

"There's been some trouble lately, so the ones who are inclined to temper are in one, and not very friendly to strangers." He isn't sure how to answer the question about amount of friends. "I have a few, but I've only recently come back. I don't know many that I didn't know before, and many of them are related to me, more than friends." In some ways, Armand tends to be too honest.

"Ah," she says. Now the hostility has been explained more fully, and she understands a little better. "Well, hopefully there won't be any further trouble. I don't like feeling as though I'm intruding so terribly - though you haven't done that, and I appreciate it," she adds quickly. No need to insult him, so she makes sure to clarify her statement.

"Well, welcome back then," she says with a smile.

"There's always some kind of trouble, as I understand it. Usually it's just people sniping or not speaking to one another." There is some tension in his movements, but he's carefully kept it from his voice. "I like to try to make peace, but I am easily ignored."

"You're not intruding. It isn't your fault you're here. We should work to make you feel welcome." And her welcome makes him duck his head, almost blushing. "Thank you, Mlle. Azhure."

"Well, I won't ignore you. I could use a few friends here," she admits, smiling. "I worry myself a little, though, I must say. I am not sure whether or not being here has quite registered with me just yet. I keep pushing those thoughts out of my head. I feel like people are adjusted here, and by trying to seem less-confused, I'm doing damage to myself," she says very honestly with a shrug.

"I'm sorry, you don't really need to know all of that, I just - I don't know, it's occurred to me as I've been walking around that I might not see my family ever again, and I'm not shattered over it. I should be, but I'm not. I feel it makes me... bad, somehow."

"It's hard to be shattered right away. I had family to begin, but lost most of them to... how people get lost here." He speaks as carefully as he can. He's not wanting to think of the people he misses. His sister and her husband. He can keep smiling--he's practiced enough to do that--but usually he can't manage to lie with his eyes.

"Don't stress yourself. There is a chance that they will come here. Sometimes they do."

Azhure is somewhat glad by his words, despite the fact that she knows he is more than likely pained as most others are. It says a lot about a man who will try to comfort someone even though they are themselves in pain.

"Thank you, I will try not to," she says. She forces a smile. "Perhaps they will. My son should much like to investigate this place," she says, thinking of Caelum.
