Anyone happening to be outside will most likely notice this.  It would be amazingly hard not to notice that there is a dragon flying over the mansion. It is black, sleek and well over a hundred feet long, with an even larger wingspan. But if one can get over the immediate shock of seeing such a specimen then it might also be noticed that there is a ( Read more... )

Someone's eyes are as big as dinner plates.

Elia was standing outside, minding her own business, when the dragon came down not too far away. She's unsure whether she should run for safety or edge closer; one thing is certain, she is definitely gaping in awe and shock.

YOU SIR or ma'am ARE MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME NOT TO BRING IN A THARKAY. SHAME SHAME SHAME also *loves*.

Temeraire's definitely good at the whole shock and awe thing.

The dragon makes no outward signs that he is about to eat her, or even that he has noticed her at all, and Laurence is far to busy getting out of the harness and fussing over Temeraire to notice her either. So if Elia were to edge closer now would most likely be the time to do so.

YES YES YES not SHAME SHAME SHAME. Tharkay for the ultimate win of everything ever.

If possible, Elia's eyes get wider. The dragon is harnessed? By a man with blond hair? Well, it's not Targaryen silver, but it's close.

And so curiosity wins out, and she does edge closer, wary of the dragon, but attempting not to show it outwardly. She looks up at the dragon (which talked! She didn't know they did that!) and very, very tentatively says "...Dracarys?" It's an exceptionally stupid thing to say, she realizes belatedly, and hopes she doesn't end up roasted for it.

WELL WHEN YOU PUT IT THAT WAY.

Temeraire looks up from the (thankfully rather quiet) conversation he was having with Laurence about finding something to eat and turns his attention to Elia. "I beg your pardon?"

I do.

Elia snaps to attention, trying not to look absolutely horrifically frightened. It's a downhill battle, but gravity has nothing on her overweening pride.

But anyway.

"Pardon me, I-" Cough. "I just have never before seen a dragon." Yes let's pass it off on totally not morbid curiosity, shall we?

Well then :| When would be best for you for him to be brought in?

"That is too bad," Temeraire says with a sense of 'but now you're seeing me for your first and isn't that better than just any old dragon' lurking behind his words.

Laurence just seems happy that she hasn't freaked out and run away yet.

[I care not. Anytime when you want to.]

Oh, Elia certainly looks like she wants to run. But she was married to a man who spoke constantly of dragons for nearly five years, and may have gotten everyone killed over them. She is not going to just leave.

And she is kind of smirking at the implication behind his words.

"Indeed," She curtsies. "I am Princess Elia of Dorne and Westeros. A pleasure."

I AM AMAZING.

"I am Temeraire." He bows his large head to her. "And this is Laurence." Who likewise bows with a polite, "A pleasure, your Highness."

[Indeed.]

Elia nods, accepting this. From a woman of near-infinite pride, that is certainly something.

"I thank you for obliging my" gut-wrenching terror, "curiosity. I assume you have just arrived?"

Here you are, and if you need to poke me on aim, it's listed in all my character's profiles.

"We have," Temeraire says, leaving Laurence to the task of removing the harness. Or at least to try to since it's a large job and might take a while. "Where is Dorne and Westeros?"

Elia would offer to help, you you know, she's a girl and can't be expected to do those things. Oh, medieval societies.

"They are west of the free cities." She says, "Dorne is very far south."

Laurence will probably spend the rest of the conversation clambering over Temeraire, fiddling about with more straps and buckles and miscellaneous bits of leather than may be found outside of a very exclusive sort of specialty shop.

"I've never heard of them," the dragon says, stretching out a wing to give Laurence better access to a difficult buckle.

Elia shrugs. "And I have never before seen a dragon, so I suppose we are equal." Since, you know, he's never seen a Dornishwoman before, either, probably.

"And where are you from?

"I am from China, but I was hatched on Laurence's ship. He is from England." He is also currently still busy somewhere on the dragon's back, but he gives a nod to back up the story.

Elia nods back, polite. "I have never heard of either place, I am afraid. I have heard this place draws people from several worlds, all different."

"That is strange. Please tell me more about what your world is like," he says, moving closer to her so that he may be a better audience.
