this could get messy (introduction)

Jul 13, 2009 23:20

It's strange. Again. Just when things were getting better then he had to show up and ruin everything. Maeglin sometimes known as Lomion fought the urge to spit. They would all see, though. Tuor and Turgon and all the rest who looked askance at him for being his father's son and thought the seed of madness or evil was simply lurking waiting to ( Read more... )

We're not sure where she stands with regards to a lot of things in her life, but at any rate, by typist request, here is Angélique...

She is sitting in a meadow, humming to herself and making crowns of flowers like Iphigenia taught her. There is something subdued, and slightly sad, in her demeanor.

She's Edain, which makes him wrinkle his nose a bit - some relative of Tuor's no doubt. Damn that man. However, for the moment he can't afford to scorn whatever information he can find, and if she knows Tuor she might know how to get out of this place.

"You there!" He calls, with a touch of disdain, but polite enough. "Might I beg a moment of your time?"

She looks up and stands abruptly. "Monsieur." And a halting curtsey.

He inclines his head slightly, and offers her a charming smile, though there's something to it that's a little strange, though it would be difficult, asked, to say what exactly that something is. "Are you by any chance acquainted with a young Edain man - Tuor, by name?"

Politely enough, though he can't help the undercurrent of tension and haaaaet.

... gesundheit.

"I -- I'm afraid I know of no killer men, and Edain means nothing to me, begging your pardon," she replies, a bit embarassedly.

His eyebrows rise. She's lying, she must be lying, even if he can see no trace of it on her features. Well, then, cleverer than she looks. His smile turns apologetic. "I'm sorry to disturb you then. I am merely - slightly distressed, by finding myself in this unknown place, when I was so close to home."

Home, ha. As if.

"Oh, you just arrived," she smiles a little, trying to be reassuring. "I'm very sorry. I -- I will help you, if you want. My name is Angélique."

He smiles in return, and bows. "Lomion," he says, keeping his tone moderate, even if his spine is beginning to crawl. "And what do you mean, just arrived?"

"This place -- it -- I don't know how to explain it. It just makes you come. One moment I was sowing my work at home, another I was in the hall of the Mansion. It just is so, I'm afraid."

"The Mansion - is that all it is called?" A little more sharply, though unbidden. This does not sound good. And stinks of some kind of - sorcery, perhaps. He didn't think Tuor had any kind of talent, but...

She -- almost flinches, but not quite, and looks away. "Yes, that is what it is called," she replies, very quietly. "I only came here a month gone, and know little of it."

"Hm," he says, shortly, and then quickly finds a way to moderate his tone. "--beg pardon," with an ingratiating smile, "Miss, I find myself - a touch alarmed. I didn't mean to speak harshly."

"You are forgiven," she replies, quiet and subdued. "What is it that you need to know, then, Monsieur?"

"I would know anything you could tell me of this place, my lady," with a slight smile, "And gladly so."

She nods, then, and stands. "This," she points at the house, "is the Mansion. In it you will find empty rooms, and one of them is free for the taking. There is no -- well, the place has not been claimed, though there is a King," oh, heart pang, this moment, "and there are knights and such, here. The woods are dangerous - but perhaps more for you than for me. And as for fare, you will like as much need to hunt, as most men do here."

"Has not been claimed?" Interesting. Though of course, this is all an illusion. Tuor's done this, somehow, and he will figure it out.

Pacing, "Why more for me than for you?" A little sharp, is the little minx connected with the man after all?
