Sam Spade is not only around, he's probably noticeably around, much more so than is normal. Spade had long ago learned that meddling in mysteries in the Mansion was as effective as slamming his head against a wall. Repeatedly. Still, Anita'd asked him to look into it, and maybe five millionth time would be a charm

Here's someone whom Sam has never met, and who can be marginally helpful.

Robin Goodfellow is in the kitchen, drinking tea and frowning, reflecting on whether or not he should go out and try to hunt down Helen.

"It's a wonder there are still tea leaves left," Spade comments, leaning against the doorframe.

[rob_fellows]

Robin looks up. "Blame it on those crazy elves," he says with a bit of a grim smile. "You'd think they import it from whereever they grow it. It's not bad, though."

[mancalledspade]

He nods. "Amazing, what you can get used to when you don't have a choice."

[rob_fellows]

"You're telling me," Robin replies with a bit of a chuckle. He looks at him, then throws out a speculation. "Chicago, 1923?"

[mancalledspade]

He chuckles. "San Fransisco, 1931. But given where we are, not bad."

[rob_fellows]

"New York, 2001." He extends a handshake. "Rob Fellows. Used to be a car dealer before this happened."

A flawless lie, of course.

[mancalledspade]

"Must have been here awhile, to be so nonchalant about the elves at the time differences." He does take the offered hand though.

[rob_fellows]

"Bit over six months," Robin replies nonchalantly. "One gets used to the period dress and all the weirdness."

That and being the Puck. It helps a bit.

"Mm." He raises an eyebrow but says, "There any coffee left?"

[rob_fellows]

Robin looks at the percolator. "Hm. No more, but I'll make some. Hold on." He bends and opens a cupboard, takes out a pack of coffee out of it, and starts to prepare it.

Only thing is, that cupboard was empty.

Spade lifts both eyebrows, but doesn't comment for now. "Thanks."

[rob_fellows]

"You're welcome." He grins, as if nothing had happened at all. "Rob Fellows, by the way."

[mancalledspade]

"Sam Spade. Always heard New Yorkers were a bit off."

[rob_fellows]

"I don't know, are they?" Robin looks at him a bit more curiously.

A true hardboiled Spade. Guess Bill wasn't the only one to write what he knew.
