confusticate and bebother

Bilbo Baggins had been away from the mansion for quite some time, though it was hardly noticeable, being the well-mannered and generally quiet sort of hobbit that he was. He had been in Hobbiton again (having completely forgotten about his brief time in the mansion in the meanwhile), taking a stroll through the gardens of Bag-End when he suddenly ( Read more... )

Galadriel was just walking in the room, when she came across Bilbo in the kitchen. She leaned against the wall, a little, and took a deep, deep breath.

"Perianath." Yet another, but why is the feel of Sauron so strong? She looked at him again.

He is familiar, vaguely.

He stared for a moment, his mouth hanging wide open, before hastily bowing. He'd never truly seen a great lady elf before, especially not one so lovely. "My lady."

She inclines her head in return, polite and curious, wary, a little. This Galadriel has never met Bilbo, never met any ring-bearers, and her visions are skewed by the lack of a mirror, here at the Mansion.

"Sir Perian. Have you just come then?"

"Yes, lady." Another bow since he's not sure what the exact protocol for this sort of thing is, but he's sure that there's got to be one written down somewhere. "Bilbo Baggins, at your service."

"I am Galadriel," she replies quietly, in her vaguely mysterious way. "The kitchen has rarely been so clean."

She looks about, curiously. Still trying to understand what is that nagging sense of darkness - though his heart seems so fair... and stout.

And Bilbo may now have something of a crush. After all, she did just compliment his housekeeping skills.

"Well, you know, I really couldn't stay here and let it look as though a party of dwarves had moved through. A little tidying up was all I could manage under the circumstances, but I do think it looks better now..."

Aaaaw, Bilbo.

She smiles, a little. "It looks wonderful. My cousins have terrible manners, really, and you see... this place is very disorganized. There is little one can do to keep a place in good standing." She's still trying to figure out where that comes from, so odd it is.

This sort of Morgoth-Sauron-Sense that just won't leave.

"I'd be quite happy to keep cleaning it. I suppose it's simply a hobbit thing to want things as tidy and well-organized as possible. I'll clean anything else if you need me to, my lady." She really is far prettier than anyone he has ever seen and he would probably bend over backwards to do something for her. "Anything at all. It's no trouble."

She laughs, lightly, "Now now, sir Bilbo Baggins, you've no reason to do such thing, other than your nature, and the excellency of your culture." She tilts her head to the side, and adds, "Let us have tea, may hap. I should like to know better the Perianath, if you will."

Especially since Merry was not very loquacious - and seemed to know her. When she didn't know him so well. It was much confusing.

"Tea? I'd be delighted! Would you like some now, my lady? I saw some as I was cleaning and a very nice tea set as well..." He begins getting things ready for tea without even waiting for a response. After all, he did see a nice collection of biscuits over here and there were some small cakes and tarts over there if he remembered correctly.

She sits, then, amused, fond already of the little vivacious man. "Indeed, very nice tea," she replies with a bit more warmth. There likely is some bread and some baked goods of sorts -- Galadriel has several headmates who bake and leave stuff lying around, though of course she doesn't know that.

Bilbo will then begin happily puttering around the kitchen, chattering away nonstop about nothing and everything that enters his head. There really isn't a lot of work to be done since he already has the kitchen organized to his own particular satisfaction. You can take the Baggins adventuring, but you really can't take away his domesticity.

And eventually there is tea.

She listens, amused, paying heed --- eventually, the feeling sharpens, and she knows what has come to pass.

"You are the ring-bearer," she murmurs in a moment of silence.

He looks up from his tea, a bit startled. "Beg pardon?"

"You bear a ring, do you not?" It's quiet, nonthreatening, persuasive, as well. A moment, she watches through him.
