You would really only notice the new person if you spent quite a lot of time in the woods -- or the gardens. It's true, she is more used to the Underthing, the passages and hallways under the University, but trees are as good a cover as anything. Especially when you don't like the open sky. But if a person happened to be out and about, even in ( Read more... )

There's a pair of little boys who are busy maintaining a snow castle. One of the walls fell, and it's not really acceptable, so they are working in serious silence at putting their fortress together.

They are, at least in appearance, completely heedless to Auri's presence.

Auri is watching intently from a convenient tree. She's not moving, not making any sound, but she is definitely watching.

One of the boys starts singing softly in Sindarin - the other looks up, grumps something that is barely audible, and starts making the harmonies. Both of them are working in seeming peace.

They agreed that they didn't want that scary ice woman to come and put them to work - which she said she would, should she find them fighting.

If the boys aren't paying too much attention, they might find a snowball landing slightly near their fort. It's meant to help, not scare them, but Auri is carefully hiding behind the tree trunk now.

Maybe they don't really notice, or maybe they're aware that she's there, and are purposely not reacting over much. With them, it's always hard to tell. These two boys are usually very alert to their surroundings, having had to live mostly alone in the woods, but for this one time, they're engrossed in their activity.

One of the boys takes the snow ball and adds it, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Auri peeks out from behind the tree and continues to watch, interestedly.

Unless Auri makes her self known, the boys are going to pretend that they haven't noticed her. At one point, a snow fox comes and nudges the boys, as if trying to tell them something.

It's doubtful she will. She's enjoying watching them.

That's absolutely fine - the boy, actually, looks at the fox, and there's a small dialog in peeps and squeaks, before the little animal goes.

Snow fox will be standing in front of Auri, looking at her with friendly eyes.

He's an ambassador.

Auri crouches and inspects the fox, smiling. She doesn't touch, though, just looks. After a minute, she offers a hand, ready to scurry back if need be.

The little fox walks towards her hand, slowly, sniffing her. He won't bite, or do anything of the sort, unless he feels threatened.

The boys, in the meantime, are busy pretending none of this is happening.
