"Well, I can't help ya much with the farmin', I'm more of a cattle man m'self. But howdy, all the same." Jack is, apparently, being sociable, and was drawn towards a fellow Texan, even if he doesn't quite know that bit yet. But he tips his hat and gives Lee a smile.

"Don't think I've seen ya before, friend."

"Lee Scoresby." He offers a hand. "I'd always thought of having a ranch, myself, but there don't seem to be much point without any horses."

"Jack Twist." He shakes the offered hand firmly. "We got horses. Some, anyway, back in th' stable."

"Do you now? Even so, they aren't mine to take. Whereabouts you from, Mr. Twist?"

"You're thinking of Percy," Mordred says -- his own family has more of a kitchen garden than anything else. "Percy's a special case, he'd plant potatoes in the middle of the street if he was let to." Anachronistic potatoes at that, but who's counting?

"Down south through the woods is probably your best bet. Plenty of room, and no forest. Lady Rohana is out there, and the fellow with the goats, but other than that I don't think anyone's claimed it."

"I'll see if I can find him," he says with a laugh. "I thank you kindly. That's all there is to it? Just claiming it first?"

He shrugs. "Unless something objects. It's not as though anyone lives here except the rest of us waifs."

"And if it's a something rather than a somebody I'm bothering, maybe it's better I don't know. 'Least that way we can tell them it wasn't on purpose."
