Though he's not sure he trusts her, her method of speech isn't so different from Norrell or Strange. He simply nods, and says, "If I can aid you, madam, I will try in this."

So Childermass leads back to the kitchen, to the cabinet that was once the plothole. He silently indicates which it was with a small gesture.

Gani hums, and leans forward to inspect it. "Would you get me a stool, sir?" she says, "This might take a while."

And she extracts a small screwdriver from somewhere in her skirts and sets to work fixing the hang of the doors.

He raises an eyebrow, but does find her a stool, and brings it over. "Will you need any other supplies?" Because, for now, treating her as if she's Norrell will be safest.
