Locke is just walking back upstairs, humming to himself, when something makes the hairs on his neck stand on end. He turns, abruptly, to look over his shoulder, but nothing seems to be there, at least nothing obvious. He stares, for a while.

"...the fuck?" A quiet noise behind him like footsteps on a loose board, and he wheels again, hand going to one of the hidden knives, feeling more and more nervous.

That's the moment Niko goes down the stairs. He is remarkably quiet - as reported by his little brother - and of course, he has a lot of pointy things on him, just a matter of habit, though they are concealed under the duster, of course.

He'll pause and look at Locke with a raised eyebrow.

T: Also, *points at lower places. Erhem.*

Locke is staring narrow-eyed at the hallway and then notices Niko and flattens his expression, giving him a wry eyebrow. "What, never seen someone hallucinating invisible watchers before?"

Deadly dry.

"Oh, those." Niko shrugs. "Poltergeists. Ignore them, they'll go away."

Zen. Is. Niko.

Eyebrows.

"What'sits?"

"Little pissed off spirits that strive on annoying the hell out of people. They want attention."

"Spirits." Flatly. "They're damned good at getting it too-" He cuts off suddenly and turns, catching a glimpse of a small boy with an arrow through his throat, reaching out plaintively. Locke jerks back, eyes widening slightly.

"Bug-?"

"No, not bugs, spirits." Niko stops mid-sentence.

"Oh damn."

Locke takes a rapid step back. "Fuck. Fuck no. Godsfuckinghellno."

"Hey, easy, man. Don't show fear. Whatever you do."

It's not fear, though, not really. It's pissed.

"Godsdammit you bastards," he almost howls, "You can fuck with me as much as you want, but leave my brothers out of it!"

Bondsmagi. They've finally shown up.

Oh damn. Again. Niko can't really say anything to that - but he's clearly in agreement with Locke.

He's examining the situation - looking for a flaw in it.

Locke takes a couple steps forward, a knife in either hand, and it's clear that this is a dangerous man, eyes flicking back and forth, narrowed slightly, ignoring the phantoms now.

Niko just looks at Locke, assessing. "Easy, fellow." His hands are spread open, empty.

Of course, he is fast enough to grab a blade if he needs one, but he doesn't, in order to disarm.

Locke flicks a look at him and his mouth pulls up sideways. "Me? I'm just fine. Just. Fucking. Fine."

"And I'm Barbara Streisand. Look, I don't want any trouble, okay?"

Though we're supposing the poltergeist did get out of sight, or at least, it's forgotten.
