We're sorry. (Crackplot, yes again)

Khardeen never likes to be bored. And if there's someone around who appreciates what he does, all the better!

There are now in the main room several streamers hanging from the ceiling for no apparent reason - though there is a birthday cake on the table. The cake, however, is quite harmless. It's the streamers you have to watch out for. Brush ( Read more... )

Kvothe has taken to wandering the Mansion, the nearly destroyed hand hidden in his pocket. When he spots the odd decorations in the main room he goes in to look...and his shoulder brushes one of the streamers.

The little boy standing in the middle of the room is very confused, but also incredibly curious as he runs to look at the cake in the middle of the room.

Bast comes wandering up to the front door and fortunately notices the streamers before going inside. And the rather young Kvothe.

A blink. "...R-Kvothe?" Stopping himself just in time. Not again.

Yeah, Bast has the benefit of probably sensing that they're magical before he touches them. Kvothe didn't, obviously.

The little boy looks up immediately at his name, green eyes bright and curious. "Huh?"

A careful wave, examining the eyes first. "...hey."

"Hi." He stares at Bast a little but it might reassure Bast to know that he looks nothing like he did the first time this happened. Neat and cared for instead of ragged, curious and confident rather than half feral. "...Do I know you?"

It does help. He relaxes, a little. "No, I don't think so. I'm Bast."

A slight nod. "How do you know my name? I don't remember seeing you before."

He tries for the easy lie. "I met your parents once, briefly. They mentioned you."

"Oh." He doesn't look entirely convinced, but he glances around. "Have you seen them? I think I'm a little lost."

"Not here. If it helps, I'm not entirely certain where I am either."

He's genuinely startled. "Well, do you know how we got here? And how to get back?" People will worry if he's not back before too long.

A frown. "I'm not sure. Maybe you could help me figure it out."

"Okay. What do you know about it?" He looks more serious about it than one might expect from an eleven-year-old, but he's pleased that Bast is asking his opinion about it.

Bast thought he would be. Bast frowns, considering. "I've heard that just walking away from it doesn't get you anywhere. And I know that it certainly has some sort of magic to it."

A slight shift, hoping quick-minded Kvothe won't notice the shadow behind him.

"Magic?" Not being able to get anywhere is worrying but his eyes light up at the mention of magic and he's sufficently occupied to keep from noticing any oddities about Bast's shadow just yet. "What kind of magic?"

A twitch of a smile. "I don't know, actually. It's nothing I recognize."

Wait. He looks a little embarrassed. How does he explain that?
