Bandwagon jumping? No way. (Introduction)

Aug 23, 2008 11:41

This morning there seems to be another new arrival, coming striding out of the woods holding a sword and looking fairly ticked off. He opens his mouth to say something, but the cry dies as he stares at the Mansion. Back at the woods, then at the Mansion again, an expression of "where the hell am I?" beginning to dawn on his face. The new arrival is ( Read more... )

"Celegorm."

She really, really hates that one. No forgiveness for this Feanorion - he has no millenias of regret, and no gaping chasm to atone for his sins.

Galadriel is trying not to scowl. It's not really working.

He turns and gives her a curt nod, distractedly. "Galadriel."

That one. He's not particularly fond of her either, if it helps.

She crosses her arms.

"You've come here straight from battle. Your brothers will be glad, no doubt."

Damn. Just when she had a sort of peace with Mae. Damn, damn, damn.

Hey! He just got dead. He hasn't had a chance to repent yet! Not that we guarantee he will.

"Yes." He almost adds, 'and where have you been?' but decides against it. Then he registers the rest of it. "They're here? For that matter, where is 'here?'" Eyes sharpening. He doesn't really like this.

"Here is a place called the Mansion, and there are enough Eldar to perhaps lead you to believe it is in Beleriand, but it is not."

A pause. "And yes, they are. Most of them, save Caranthir and Curufin."

She's not sorry about that, at all.

The frown deepens. "What am I doing here?"

Aww, man. Favorite little brother isn't here. Though that's probably a good thing. Perhaps all he needs is a moderating influence.

She gives a graceful shrug. "Perhaps you have been, as your brothers and all of us, given a second chance."

A pause.

"The Enemy is here."

That puts his hackles up. A little. But not much. And the other statement is a lot more important.

"What?"

And the look he gives her is something like, 'and we're just standing here?'

"He comes and goes. He will strike again, and we must be ready."

A pause.

"As is Draugluin, the wolf of Sauron."

Basically, I hate you, but we kind of need to stick together. So.

This is the part where, if Celegorm were from a more usual time and place, he'd say "oh shit."

Instead his mouth just thins and he scowls at nothing in particular. "I see."

And no Huan, either. Dammmn.

She sighs. "Come. Rest. Your brother will find you soon enough."

She' s not overly friendly, but not agressive either.

Businesslike.

He sheathes the sword but gives her a look like she's insane. "Rest? When Morgoth is here?"

"He comes and goes. He is not here just now, and there is nothing more to do until his next attack."

A pause.

"Your brother Maitimo is wounded. Go to him, if you do not believe my words, and hear his tale. He has already fought the Enemy one here." The latter is said a little more edgily. She's trying to be civil, and he's not helping.

That probably has a lot to do with her gentleness to Mae. She respects his bravery a great deal.

Well, that gets his attention. "Maedhros?" Worried. "Where?"

"Resting in the Mansion. I tended to him." She opens the door, fully expecting him to follow her, and not really caring if he doesn't.

Oh, he's following her. Though the second comment makes him blink a little, he doesn't question it. "What happened?"
