If someone is in a dark corner of the mansion, they might find a dead body. Yes, another one.

Caliban is curled around the bullet hole in his stomach in a pool of blood, very much dead, eyes closed and face calm and serious. There's no sign of the pistol he used or of a fight.

If anyone would like to deal with a dead body...?

"Jesus Christ. Knew things had been getting too quiet," he comments darkly. He'd case the joint for clues to what happened, beyond the obvious.

There's probably not much, aside from the fact that there might be indications someone was kneeling there for a short time while he was still alive. Otherwise...

Spade shakes his head, cursing again. He moves to start cleaning up the mess.

I left and I came back. Damned kid. Damned gun. Couldn't leave it there - first, you never know, it can be handy. Second... dead kid. I rest my case. And having looked around for Spade a little frantically, I come back to the scene of the crime... and there he is.

"Spade," I gasp. "You're always in the right place, at the right time, are you?"

I don't hold up, though, and start helping as soon as I'm close enough to do so.

Steerpike hears the commotion and sticks his head out tentatively and (needless to say) very quietly. Hmm. Someone died. He walks up to the body, looks around. "Messy job," he mutters with contempt to himself. His mind works fast enough - what could he gain from this?

As the answer is clearly nothing, he passes on. Death alone is of no interest to him.
