Oh hey another German!

Robert doesn't much care for Sunday Mass. It's boring and his knees always hurt afterwards from all the kneeling, but his parents always insist that's good for him so Robert goes willingly. His parents can't be wrong can they?

Anyway, he is on  his knees, praying like a good boy and when he opens his again he is shocked to find entirely different

Otto, for his part, is pleased to see another boy from school. Maybe he'll finally have someone to be his big pimpin' partner in crime!

"Well, hello there Robert."

Robert jumps to his feet excitedly at the sight of his old friend.

"Otto!" he grins, "Otto, where are we? I thought that I was praying in the church but now I'm here and it's all very confusing!"

[ottowho]

"Er... in a mansion. The Mansion, actually. I'm not sure on much else, though."

[randomgermanboy]

"The Mansion?" Robert asks, still confused, "Otto, is this a dream? Surely it must be! I've fallen asleep during church, haven't I?"

[ottowho]

Otto considers this seriously.

"I don't think so. Your mama surely would have woken you up by now. They never like us sleeping in church. I can't imagine the Lord appreciates it very much, either, now that I think about it..."

"Oh good, because I'm not supposed to sleep at church!" Robert nods, "Mother wouldn't like that. Father wouldn't either, that's for sure. Otto, if this isn't a dream, then what's going on?"

[ottowho]

"We're in a place with no parents, no church, and all there are are girls! And no one to stop us from talking to them, or... looking, or..."

He should quit while he's ahead, or he'll have a problem on his hands.

Roberts eyes widen as Otto continues talking.

"Otto, but Father says we shouldn't do those things!" he says, finding it very hard to stop thinking about such thing now that he's started, "It's sinful!"

[ottowho]

"Perhaps it is, but... there's Ilse here, with no one to stop us from talking to her. And Wendla Bergmann, alive and well. And..." Otto has to stop for a moment and compose himself. "I saw Martha Bessel in naught but her nightgown."

And he can't help but look a little smug about it.

Robert stares at Otto, unable to think of anything to say to that as his mind is rather preoccupied by thinking about, well, Martha Bessel in naught but her nightgown.

"... Martha's here?"

[ottowho]

Otto nods. "She is. I saw her just the other night. I took her down for tea."

He's such a pimp.

And suddenly Robert doesn't think place will so bad.

"Who else is here?" Robert asks, unable to wipe the grin off his face.

[ottowho]

"Ilse. Wendla Bergmann." He's joining Robert in grinning, now. "Thea. Oh, and some of the other boys," he finishes with a rather disinterested wave of the hand. Their dynamic was a bit too... strange for his liking.

"Wendla Bergmann?" Robert asks incredulously, "... But I thought she... The anemia?"

[ottowho]

"I thought so too, but... well, she's here, so she can't be dead. And what's more... she's got a baby."

[randomgermanboy]

"She has a baby?!" Robert asks, shocked, "But she is not married! Is she?"
