He opens his eyes to watch her comfortably, with a quiet pleased look in the back of his smile.

she stands up with a little twirl of her skirt, and holds the cat over her head to have a look at the hidden wheels. "i say ... !"

Well, that's gratifying! Luther nods: it's a bit unusual, isn't it?

tentatively at first -- as though it might bite -- she reaches to touch one of those wheels, then pushes it and sets it spinning, squealing to see its paw move with it. "i say."

He nods again: I know!

"it's all connected," she explains, full of joy, "all connected, and it looks just like a regular cat. well, a regular cat made of wood, of course -- but isn't it clever? it is, isn't it?"

"Thank you," he says then, in his good earthy voice.

"you're welcome!" untying a ribbon about her neck, she slips it about the cat's and attaches it to her wrist, so she can put it down and pull it rolling-walking along the floor. "i wish i could make things like this -- clever things."

"You'd like her?"

"oh -- ! may i?"

bwee! this would be a quick kiss atop his head. "thank you."
