Suddenly there appears in the mansion a handsome, golden-haired young man. Wand already drawn as if he'd been in the middle of a wizarding duel, he is bewildered for a mere few seconds before he lets out a laugh. "What place is this?"

Everything was unfamiliar to his eyes but he is up for any unique new experience so with a bright grin he starts ( Read more... )

Richard, having been murdered with a wand once before, might be forgiven if he jumps out of his skin when Grindelwald appears. He drops the book he had been reading, and is halfway to standing up when this thoughts catch up with his adrenaline.

Gellert turns his eyes to Richard and gives him a charming smile. "Why, hello there." He speaks with some kind of European accent but his English is clear.

He swallows. "Good day. Forgive my - I'm afraid you rather startled me."

"Oh, I apologize for that, sir," his words are polite but he's scrutinizing the man before him very intently. He slips away his wand. At the very least he doesn't think Richard is any threat. "Can you tell me how and why I am here?"

"Neither, I'm afraid, except generally agreed by magic. I can't even properly tell you the where or when."

"Are you under a spell of confusion?"

He laughs, and it's slightly more jaded than a young man's should be. "Possible, I suppose, but unlikely. The last person I saw who can tell such things didn't notice one. I'm afraid you'll find that no one knows quite where this is, so if a spell is to blame, it's one with a wide effect indeed."

"That's entirely possible," he muses, looking around the room. "What else can you tell me about this building?"

He considers. "I've only heard of a handful of people successfully leaving, but people constantly arrive from all different times and locations. I myself am from London, 1851. The Mansion itself provides almost anything material you might require, food and clothing among the rest, and seems to have ample rooms to accommodate new arrivals. The layout of it shifts, minorly, from time to time, but this room, the library, and the kitchens are usually more or less findable."

"1851?" Gellert laughs again as if finding that highly amusing. "Why, that is almost fifty years ago!"

He pauses to take the rest of Richard's words in. "So this is a purely magical place then. Who is the owner of this wondrous establishment? They must be a great wizard."

"No one has claimed ownership of it, in the... good lord, the year I've been here."

"Then it is free to claim!" He exclaims with glee.

Richard looks wary. "I don't know that I would go that far. There are several who I think might object to an attempt of that sort."

"Let them object," he grins. "I'll be ready for them." There's a determined and fanatical gleam in his eyes.

Richard sinks a bit back into his chair. "Indeed."
