The young man stumbles in, bleeding and bruised. He looks at his surroundings a minute -- they're decidedly not what he had left. For one thing, there's less men trying to kill him, it's quite a lot brighter, and he wasn't in this much pain a few minutes ago. He has got a ring on his finger, though he's in no condition to register it at the ( Read more... )

Avaric's been sitting there, elegantly, actually reading a book for lack of something better to do. His nose crinkles a bit at the blood and the bruising.

"Are you dying?" he asks, not doing a good job at masking his disgust. It is safe to say that he doesn't recognize Fiyero yet.

"I'm not entirely sure on that point." Fiyero sits up straighter, wincing, and glances over.

"Avaric?" Well, Avaric, the blue diamonds peeking through his ripped shirt should be a pretty good giveaway.

Well, to be honest, Avaric wasn't paying too much attention until his name was mentioned. He looks the other man over once, then raises an eyebrow.

"Fiyero." No questioning needed here - how many blue diamonded men know him? "Well, don't you look -- A sight for sore eyes."

"I'm sure I look like I feel," he says, a little wryly. "Which isn't all that wonderful."

He'd get up, if he could move, but as it is he just leans forward in his chair. "Where are we?"

"Not a clue." He tosses the book to the side. "Not Oz." He finds himself looking at Fiyero again. "Unnamed God, what happened to you?" He hardly sounds concerned, just curious.

"The Gale Force," Fiyero says grimly, with a vague gesture. "I think. They were all in black."

"What did you do?" Avaric looks interested. After all, Fiyero's always been so ... Good.

"Something stupid." That's apparently all he's going to say on the subject.

"Obviously." He leans back in his seat. "I mean, as far as I know, these things don't just happen for no reason."

"You'd be surprised," with a thin smile, remembering the Bears and the Quadlings.

"And if it's all the same, I'd rather not talk about it." Look, Avaric, he can do that affected drawl too.

Avaric looks amused.

"You've obviously been keeping yourself busy, then."

Fiyero straightens, a little stiffly. It's almost like he's playing his part for society, like he used to do back in the Emerald City -- and so, that high-class drawl is still very much in place.

"Oh, yes, well. There are all sorts of treaties and things I had to busy myself with."

"Come of it, Fiyero." Avaric laughs. "You hardly need to act so dignified around me. Although, I must say, I admire the effort given your current state."

He looks down then, grinning a little sheepishly. "Sorry. Force of habit. I was dealing with treaties and things, though. Was in Emerald City for about half the year, didn't I see you?"

"Oh." And now he frowns. "It's been so long since I've -- Fiyero, this is going to sound positively oddified, but I'm not sure we've come to place at the same time."

Fiyero blinks. And blinks again. "Really? I just --I think I just saw you last month, though. At the club."
