Feeling the need for a change of scenery, David has taken himself to one of the common rooms. He's lit the fire, and settled himself in front of the hearth. At the sight of him, Arabella almost laughs. "Good day, sir."

It takes him a few moments to be pulled from his own reverie, but when he does, he offers a polite smile. "Good day, my dear."

This does win a laugh. "Not your dear, I am afraid, sir. Though with so many books strewn about, I did half-expect to see my husband in your place."

[englishgent]

He laughs lightly in return. "Just a polite turn of phrase, I assure you."

Her latter comment earns a curious look, "Oh is he a scholar?"

"Of a sort, yes."

[englishgent]

His curiosity remains. "And what sort may that be?"

[colored_gowns]

"He is a magician."

[englishgent]

And David smirks inwardly at that, keeping a straight face outwardly. "An interesting occupation."

"And are you a scholar as well?"

[englishgent]

He nods, "I am yes. Have been for many years."

"And what is it that you study?"

[englishgent]

"Ah many things, wide and varied. Some which I'm sure given your husband's occupation, you may be familiar with."

He's intentionally a little vague. Discussing his work has never been something he's done openly.

"O, I am very little acquainted with the subjects of his studies."

[englishgent]

He nods, looking thoughtful. "It is often better off that way."

[colored_gowns]

"Is it?"

[englishgent]

"The work can be dangerous. Not something a lovely lady such as yourself might want to risk."
