He is a man all shadows and angles and smirking pride, and perhaps as much of an opposite as she could have. He is almost hard to spot, though he's standing there openly enough; one's eyes slide past him.

Perhaps he notices that she is hours younger than she was mere minutes ago, and in the space of a few seconds, younger still -- like the sun-dappled shadows of leaves that move in the wind, she is changing, subtly but perceptibly, as the light by with which you see her changes.
