Shaken

Though he has cleaned up the blood, Richard is still not wearing a jacket, sleeves rolled up to the elbows. He looks pale, tired, and a bit haunted. He's looking for Curio, Ganymede, and/or Tom, roughly in that order, but is free to be accosted by anyone else who should come across him. He's had a long night.

richard carstone, molly seagrim, ganymede, rosalind, curio, mina, ada clare, tom jones

*should there be anything else for Curio to do or anyone to whom he needs to speak, he can be found in his room and please, forget that Curio has been MIA for ages.*

*would totally claim to forget, except for rather missing him*

Along with Tom, Curio is the other person Richard knows will want to know about Molly's welfare, and so (despite the fact Curio may or may not still be mad at him) Richard knocks softly on his door.

*after a moment--it's late, if the typist recalls correctly, and if the typist recalls incorrectly, there can be nappage--Curio will emerge, bleary-eyed and clad only in a nightshirt. although at first he is a little peeved to see Richard, he quickly recognizes the concern on his face* What draws you to my door so monstrous grieved? Hath some unwonted fate befallen you?

He shakes his head, and says very quietly, "For once, no. I'm sorry to wake you."

'Tis done; then put the point to it with haste. An I can render aid, I'd have you say't.

"Aid is past. I... simply thought you would wish to know. Miss Seagrim has had her child."

*... blinkblink*

*at last, he manages* 'Tis passing joyous news! How is the maid who lately did herself a mother make?

He winces, looks down. "She is...resting. Sleeping, I hope."

*his brow furrows* Is all not well with her? I'd have you say't--

"No, no. She was quite ill, but she will mend. But her child." He shakes his head, still looking away. "I do not even know if she was conscious long enough after to know it died," he says very quietly.

O--O, God. *his hands fall slack at his sides; his shoulders sag, and for a moment it's all too visible in his face that thirty-three isn't at all young, in Curio's time* I would have taught him how to hunt--

"I... I am sorry. I know I'm not - I won't bother you longer. I just thought... you should know."

*he seizes Richard's shoulder, though, and whatever pretense of distance he has made, it is gone now* Doth she still sleep? Wilt tell her, when she wakes?

"I... I imagine Tom will tell her, if she doesn't already know. He was tearing off to her room, last I saw." Richard's in pain, but trying not to show it - this isn't his tragedy, not really. "She was in and out, when I left her."

*looking away* 'Tis better that he does--she loved him first; 'twill do her good to have the touch of home.

He nods. "I am sure that... if you wished to visit her as well, it would mean a great deal. I..." He shakes his head, but doesn't quite pull away.
