So, it's mildly disconcerting when you've just faced a war, and then things are starting to go okay, and despite how you actually feel about the matter you've even managed to be swayed enough to agree to get married (ugh), and then all of a sudden your fiancé (which is still kind of hard to say) manages to up and disappear

Even without being able to hear her thoughts, Edward had been lurking around the main room of the mansion in hopes that Bella would appear. And so he was at her side in a flash, holding her as tightly as he dared, "Bella, thank God." He pulled back to give her a stern look, "Don't ever disappear like that again."

It took a second for Bella's brain to jumpstart again.

"- what, wait, me? I didn't disappear anywhere. You did."

"It's good to see you, too," he said, a little wryly. "And I don't know which of us disappeared, but I've been here for weeks. Where have you been, hmm? I thought you'd gotten cold feet."

"Weeks?" Bella's teasingly accusatory glance turned more toward shocked. "It's been about two days since I last saw you."

"Weeks, yes. But apparently time and space mean nothing here, so it could have been two days. Or twenty years, who knows?" He kissed her lightly, "I'm just glad you're here. I'm sorry one of us disappeared."

She smiled, resisting (as usual) the urge to kiss him more deeply, and equally trying not to look more startled. "If it's been twenty years, something went wrong with my aging process. Which I wouldn't object to one bit, in case you weren't already sure."

It wasn't like anyone else aged these days.

He rolled his eyes, "I know very well, Bella. You know the deal. And since Alice doesn't seem to be here... perhaps we could go back to the original plan?" Edward raised his eyebrow suggestively, "Provided we can find a priest."
