Teddy had been snogging cousin Victoire! Snogging! Mild disgust was once again at war with hysterical giggles. Al just hadn't understood what was so funny, but he was a boy so of course he wouldn't. Maybe, just maybe she didn't even blame him. And then promptly giggled again.

She looked out the window as she tried to stiffle her giggles, and from ( Read more... )

He wanders through the room on his usual trek to the kitchen, shaking his head at all the children. They remind him of 'ickle firsties', and he clearly has no idea of any potential relation to the newcomer in question.

Rose turns around in an attempt to find something familiar and so her eyes will land on her Daddy's back. She'd recognize him anywhere, especially with his back turned (so she can't see that he's younger). Her voice is slightly incredulous, as they were supposed to be at Hogsmeade and Daddy was definitely not supposed to be in Hogsmeade.

"... Daddy?!? What are you doing here?"

Ron stops in his tracks - He's fairly sure the voice was directed at him. He turns around to see the girl addressing him.

'Sorry, I'm not your -' But then he realises that this girl might just be his daughter, having been told earlier of her existance. He isn't sure what to say, so he tells her what he's doing.

'I was just getting some lunch.'

She can't help the giggle; after all, Daddy's appetite is legendary! Mummy's told Hugo and her all sorts of stories from their schooldays.

"But why are you here, you know, in Hogsmeade, if lunch was all you wanted? Doesn't the Ministry cafeteria have lunch?"

She still thinks she's somehow in a side room to Hogsmeade station...

He looks down at Rose with appreciation.

'This isn't Hogsmeade. I wish it was - At least I know where that is - but I'm not even sure if we're in Britain anymore.'

As for the comment on the Ministry, he's still baffled as to what to say. Daughter? Ministry? Mummy? What is going on?

She frowns, inadvertently looking quite a lot like her Mum when she was younger.

"What do you mean, this isn't Hogsmeade? And don't be silly, of course we're still in Britain, Daddy!"

Only then does it occur to her that Daddy... well, he doesn't look like Daddy. He looks like all the pictures of him, Mum and Uncle Harry when they were in school.

He closes his eyes for a moment, thinking that this girl might need some comfort, and opens them before bending down to her level. He keeps the strangeness of the situation to himself.

'I mean Hogsmeade is a lot more interesting than this place, and there are a lot more wizards, and I have no idea where this mansion we're in is. I really don't. I wish I did, but I don't.'

He bites his lip awkwardly. 'But I guess if you need anything, I'm uh ... I'm here for you.'

She looks a bit upset. Actually, she looks a lot upset.

"But... Daddy? Why do you look like all the pictures of you and Mummy and Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny? You know, from before? Have we been kidnapped? What's going on?"

Clearly, she gets the endless question-asking tendency from her Mum...

It takes him a second to realise what she's talking about.

'I don't know why things are the way they are, and I wish I had the answer, I really do. But we're both here in our own way.' He sighs. 'I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.'

Despite the distress, he's fairly sure he's seen a bit of himself in this girl, and perhaps a bit of Hermione. It's both terrifying and pleasing all at once.

Given the abundance of freckles, the not-quite-ginger-but-getting-there hair and that rather obvious Weasley chin, it should be clear enough that the girl at least resembles him... Even if her hair is more of the fly-away kind and her eyes are brown...

"But what do we do now? What about my things? My books... My broom!"

He shares her distress. 'Your broom? I have no idea, kiddo. I'm hoping those sorts of things will show up later. Things have a way of turning up when you need them, even in the worst of times. Trust me on that one.'

He wishes he knew how to comfort her, but this whole situation is as baffling to him as it is to her.

"But Daddy... Where am I going to sleep? What about food? ... I thought you knew everything!"

Well... everything that Mummy doesn't know, actually. She wouldn't normally be caught dead holding Mummy's or Daddy's hand, because big girls just don't do that. Today... is an exception, and she reaches out for Daddy's hand.

Not knowing what else to do, he takes her small hand in his. The gesture reminds him of everything they've fought for, and while he can hardly believe this is his daughter, he finds it his duty to at least be a figure of strength for her.

'You'll get a room, I promise. It works out. There's loads of things here, everything you need. The pantry in the kitchen -,' he nods to the door he had earlier been heading for, 'is always stocked with your favourite things. I can't say I know what those are, but you can pick and choose.'

She gets an excited look on her face.

"Really?!?"

And then she promptly starts tugging on his hand, trying to drag him toward the kitchen. It seems her appetite is no less legendary than her Daddy's...

"... Well, come on, Daddy! I'm hungry!"

'You really do take after me.' He laughs and is led to the kitchen, flattered at her way of speaking to him, though still unsure as to how to speak to her. He thinks of Hermione's face when he mocked the first years' as a prefect, and decides to be a fair bit nicer.

'What did you have in mind? I was going for a ham sandwich myself.'

"... Eeeeeeeeww Daddy! You can have everything, and you want a ham sandwich? Nah UH! I think I want... ummm... pumpkin pasties, or maybe trifle pudding. Or... Oh! I know! Chocolate frogs and cauldron cakes!"

Definitely has a sweet tooth, that one.
