Not really a plot, but if it were, it would definately be of the 'crack' variety
It was a night of getting drunk and pulling pranks. James hadn't had that much fun in ages, and he'd managed to convince John and Balthazar to join in, because getting drunk with other people is fun, but getting drunk by yourself kind of makes everything that much sadder. (He'd had plenty of those sorts of nights in the past, and they almost never turned out well).
And so they drank, got drunk, and were merry. And James stole most of the underpants in the mansion and hung them out around the edges of the roof as decorations. A mansion bedecked in underpants! It was genius, and gave the mansion a festive feel, resembling christmas lights, strung out along the guttering.
Unfortunately, most residents (at least those who haven't warded their underpants drawer) have had their underpants stolen to achieve this effect.
James is currently lying on the front lawn (having fallen asleep while admiring the handy-work) should anyone be seeking him out to a. Admire the underpant'd mansion with him, or b. Demand their underwear back.
Of course, he'll also be nursing a massive hangover, so don't expect him to be particularly helpful.
T: Because a Prongs will always be a Prongs. Feel free to throw any and all characters in to have their underpants commandeered.
