"Some gods take human shapes, I have seen, and some of our gods take the shapes of broken men, of famine or disease ..." Realizing how rude she's being, though, she says softly, "And I know not what a Jew is, but I have seen many gods, and perhaps Jews are gods who take the shapes of boys."
