A young woman enters, looking around mildly curiously. She has one hand on her stomach and glances down at it, a bit perplexed, and then pauses. It's clear she has seen better days -- her clothing was once fashionable and fine, but now it's quite mended and a little dirty. She speaks, finally, looking confused

Look, it's a pregnant lady! And she's wearing Ozian clothes, amazingly. Not that Melena's like to recognize them - they're Arjiki. Nice, but servicable.

"Are you new, honey?"

We're willing to bet she doesn't, but she'll give April a mildly demure curtsey.

"I suppose you could say that, yes."

April gets herself into a standing position (damn comfy couches) and smiles. "Well, welcome, then. I'm April."

She offers her hand for shaking.

Melena shakes the offered hand, smiling. "Thank you. I'm Melena Thropp."

[fallen_april]

April's eyebrows go up a bit. "Melena Thropp? El--" she starts to say 'Elphie's mother' and stops herself. "You're the granddaughter of the Eminent Thropp. In Munchkinland. Right?"

[nesthardingrose]

She smiles and curtsies, again -- it's so nice to be recognized! "Indeed I am, though I have not been back to Munchkinland since my second child was born." A shadow passes over her face at that last, but it's probably not noticeable unless you know her well.

"Ah. Well, it's... nice to meet you," April decides on that. "Where are you now? Or... well, where were you?"

[nesthardingrose]

"Quadling Country." She looks away for a moment, biting her lip, then turns back to April. "Not far from Ovvels."

[fallen_april]

"I'm afraid I don't know the area," April smiles a bit. "I haven't been out of Arjiki territory much."

[nesthardingrose]

Melena gives a quizzical frown at that. "Arjiki territory? Where's that?"

[fallen_april]

"In the Vinkus?" April ventures.

Let's see how this goes over.

[nesthardingrose]

A blink. She can't really make a snide comment about that, seeing as she's been living with the Quadlings for five years. "I ...wasn't aware there were any cities there."

[fallen_april]

"There's a small town near my husband's ancestral home," April says mildly. "But there really aren't any cities, no."

[nesthardingrose]

"It sounds about the same as Quadling country," a little bitterly. "I suppose I shouldn't be surprised."

[fallen_april]

"I'm quite fond of it, though," April says with a smile. "It's beautiful. Although it may have to do with being with my husband."

Yep, we're in love. Awww.

"Sometimes husbands don't help." Why yes, she is speaking from experience.
