"I suppose it was only a matter of time," she says, airily.

He blinks. "A matter of time for... what?" As soon as the words leave his mouth, he soon realizes what she means and blushes even more.

She tilts her head and studies him, curiously. "For you to show up here, of course."

He is torn between shrinking back and just letting her stare. "Um, were you waiting for me?" he asks, hoping for a certain answer.

"No. Yes."

He smiles. "I'm- I'm glad you're here."

[callmestargirl]

She shrugs. "I guess you can be, now that no one from school is around." The bitterness in her tone is subtle, but there.

Now, he's confused. "What are you talking about? They love you!" They didn't call him "Starboy" for nothing.

And now, she's confused. "They -- but you weren't at the Ocotillo Ball."

"Stargirl-" It's nice to say her name. "That's months away, you know..."

[callmestargirl]

"But...oh." She looks wryly amused. "I think I get it."

He obviously still does not understand. "What? Get what? What does this have to do with the Ocotillo Ball?"

[callmestargirl]

"The Ocotillo Ball never happened for you. It did for me. This place..." Stargirl opens her arms and twirls. "...there's no time here."

He assumes this is another riddle for him to mull over and nods, furrowing his brow. "I... still don't understand. What do you mean, 'no time'? Is this part of 'being nothing'? Another enchanted place?"
