and then there's a woman.

Firstly you'll probably notice her beauty; it's remarkable. She's tall and strong-looking, with thin hands and small feet, and piercing dark eyes that flash and laugh. Her face is lovely enough to make any man catch his breath, and it's clear that she knows it, and that she disregards it. What worth is it to her to steal men's breath? What a useless occupation.

Then perhaps you'll notice that the laugh in her eyes is on her lips, a strong laugh though it's sweet--she doesn't let her beauty diminish her strength in anything, not in body, not in voice.

"Where is my bonny husband? Is he fleeing the marriage bed? I had thought I was fair enough now that he would have no reason to run from the prospect of a night with me."
