This chair is mine

Armand made some tea and claimed a chair in the main room. He had his sketchbook out, but wasn't drawing. He was thinking, and he didn't like what he was thinking. Feel free to interrupt him.

Jackrabbit was baby-free, for once, though he was fretting a bit - Sweeney was a good mother, of course, but nevertheless, Jackrabbit didn't like to leave him alone with Mo Chroi too long.

He spotted Armand, however and decided to stop and say hi.

"Hello." he said with a smile

Armand tries to banish his pensive frown. "Hello. How are you?"

"Oh my. Are you alright?" he asked, tilting his head.

"I'm trying to remember. Or trying to decide not to remember. It's a dilemma."

He frowned.

"Remember? Decide?"

"I've forgotten so much. Nearly everything about here."

"Oh," he raised his brows. "Why? What happened?"

"I've lost nearly my whole memory of this place. Some things are coming back--I can remember my husband and child now--that I want, but some things I am getting the feeling I do not want to remember, and those may come back, too." He shivers.

"Ahhhh. Repression. Its unhealthy to keep those memories repressed."

"Repressed?" Armand doesn't understand. To him, they are simply lost, the good with the bad.

"Yes. What do you remember?"

"Well, everything from before I arrived here seems clear, painfully so in some cases. And... I asked Draco to help me remember my husband, so things related to him and the baby are fairly clear, although I can follow those memories to others if I try."

He chews on his lower lip. "What is disturbing is how I react emotionally to some people and things around here. In some cases, I was able to know that people were safe or friendly just from how I felt, but others deeply frighten me and I do not know why."

"Repression," he said as if that explained everything.

Well. It did.

"But what is... repression?" That's what he doesn't understand.

"Ah," well. "Your conciousness, its fighting the memory. But your subconciousness knows its the only way to heal. It was a psychoanalysist, ah..." he touched his Kenner. "...Freud, who discovered it."

"I have to remember to heal?" He's terribly confused and not at all sure he wants to remember the things that seem to frighten him.
