Pianist by Night

Apr 06, 2007 13:48

It's late, past midnight, and Alcuin's nightmares have driven him out of bed, wandering the corridors with the lazy curiosity of the insomniac, half asleep and looking for something to distract him from his troubles. He stops in the library, having gravitated there without realizing it. The library reminds him of Delaunay--books, languages, ( Read more... )

Helen was spending the night praying. It was mainly due to the fact that it was Good Friday, but there were other reasons. The faint sound of the piano caught her ear, it sounded a little like an instrument from home, and she went to find the source. She will probably walk in on Alcuin and listen in silence.

Alcuin's trained to notice these things, and he stops immediately, guilty. "I'm sorry. Did I wake you?"

Alcuin smiles shyly. "I can't play, anyway."

"Praying. Keeping a vigil, to be precise."

Typist: *needs the details of Paul's death scene*

"A vigil? For Pascha?"

Typist: Snap, I deleted the wrong post. Um. We get the idea anyway. As for details, there aren't many. Moritz showed up with a gun and was all "YOU KILLED ILSE." Paul was all "Yeahuh, so?" and pulled a gun on Moritz in return. He threatened Moritz and clearly was assuming the kid was more scared than angry, but Moritz shot. Paul's all "ohsnap, I'm not bulletproof," and is in so much shock that he's not bulletproof he doesn't even shoot Moritz back. And then he dies. Very exciting. The log was tiny.

"For Good Friday, the day when Christ died. And for the dead of this house."

Typist: Oh. I was expecting something more...eh. I don't know...Does anyone have the thingy where Helen was all 'whee I'm gonna shoot a painting!'? Cause I don't, cause I couldn't figure out how to copy stuff til later...cause I'm smart like that.

"I heard about the killings." Alcuin frowns, upset.

Typist: Yeah, so was Paul. Highly anticlimactic. And I have the log, but my internet is seriously crap right now. Ask Anna or Mandy--they were there, or else ask me monday.

"Yes. I know two of the men who died." (Is totally assuming she found about Richard by now.)

Typist: Poor Paul. What a boring way to go. I'll find it somewhere or just wait. I'm not in much of a hurry.

"I'm fine. I just...wasn't expecting one." If anything, Helen is more upset about Richard than she is about Paul for that reason.
